In 2011, the adidas creative department in Indianapolis wanted to create an identity for ourselves. We settled on Indpls Design Center or IDC for short. I created a “D” and “C” that intertwined and formed a larger “I.”
When this symbol is combined, it forms a chain which symbolized both our role in the larger adidas group, but also that each member of the team was as important as the ones beside them. The icon formed an interlocking pattern to be used as texture. In some applications, a single icon within that pattern would be highlighted in color or with a cropped photo. The very bright color palette was paired with black, and the logo would feature different photos cropped into it depending on what league or product we were representing.
